I’m a writer-runner living in Portugal and Alaska, where I arrived after a journey that took me from the midwest to Texas to northern California. Our 5 acre property in Portugal features many buildings in various states of decay and collapse, a flock of feral chickens and large gardens and orchards that keep us busy year-round. Meanwhile in Alaska our we’ve just finished lumbering for our tiny house, where building will soon commence. I look forward to the day I will sleep in a bed that isn’t a mattress on the floor in a tent, which has been the state of things for longer than you would believe. I also look forward to discovering new trails to run - I’ve run more than 100 marathons and 10 ultras. I write about all of these things, and my dog, when I’m not writing horror, which is my happy place, and the persistence of grief, which is something I am only just getting a handle on. My first book (for middle graders, which I eternally am) will be published in 2024.

We woke up empty nesters and said, why not move to Portugal?

We moved to Portugal and bought a 115-year old property with a flock of feral chickens. Now the fun starts.
